COCOA, Fla. – A 15-year-old girl has died in an “ambush” shooting that took place Monday in Cocoa, deputies said.

Karyah Duncan, of Cocoa, was shot during the incident and later died at a hospital, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting took place around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Clearlake Road and Rosetine Street.

The sheriff’s office on Tuesday said deputies responded to Anchors Seafood and Chicken restaurant on Clearlake Road after it was reported that multiple people had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found two male victims and one female victim suffering from gunshot wounds, officials said.

All three were taken to hospitals, and the two male victims are expected to survive. Their names are not being released at this time, the sheriff’s office said.

A preliminary investigation has determined that the three victims were in a vehicle in the parking lot of the restaurant when a dark colored SUV pulled behind them, blocking their exit, according to deputies.

Multiple people exited the SUV and began shooting toward the vehicle and the occupants who were attempting to exit it, officials said.

The assailants then got back into the SUV and left the area prior to the arrival of deputies, officials said.
