CASSELBERRY, Fla. – The Casselberry Police Department has made official some flashy new community-outreach efforts, showing off a badge-covered McLaren that it hopes will “promote safe driving and positive police community engagement.”
That’s the word from the police department’s Facebook page, where some commenters are already questioning who’s going to end up paying for the upkeep of such a vehicle. These supercars are well known to command a six-digit sticker price, even reaching into the millions, with maintenance costs to match.

The post seeks to quell these concerns early. Casselberry police say display opportunities for the car were generously donated by local dealership McLaren Orlando for community outreach and public education events.
“Before the rumor mill gets too far ahead: no taxpayer or city funds were used for this vehicle,” the post states. “(...) Keep an eye out, you will be seeing the CPD McLaren at upcoming events, but not on patrol!”
