BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Brevard County commissioners on Tuesday will consider declaring Oct. 14 as Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day.
The commissioners will discuss a resolution that aims to honor Kirk, a conservative activist and and close ally of President Donald Trump who played an influential role in rallying young Republican voters after he was assassinated last month while speaking with students at Utah Valley University.

This is the latest move in Central Florida to honor and remember Kirk.
In Lake County, commissioners approved a road memorial. The memorial signs, which have been in place for several weeks on Schofield Road, were unanimously approved though the decision faced significant opposition during public comments.
City council members in Melbourne considered a proposal to rename part of a road to Charlie Kirk Lane, but the proposal failed to pass.
New College of Florida in Sarasota also announced it would commission a statue to honor Kirk.
There was also a new bill filed last week by state Rep. Kevin Steele to redesignate 40 different roadways across the state after Kirk. Under this latest bill, universities and colleges across the state would be directed to rename local roadways after Kirk.
