WINTER PARK, Fla. – UPDATE: Charges will not be filed against a doctor who was arrested in connection with hosting a Winter Park house party where there was alleged underage drinking, court documents show.
PREVIOUS STORY:
A Winter Park doctor faces charges after hosting a party with more than 30 juveniles that involved underage drinking and resulted in a teenager being hospitalized, police said.
Officers arrived to find the smell of alcohol and numerous empty containers early Saturday morning. According to an arrest affidavit, the homeowner, 51-year-old Hao Nhu Tran, admitted to hosting the party and acknowledged that juveniles were drinking, though she denied providing alcohol herself.
In a 911 call, one person reported a 15-year-old girl who had passed out and was vomiting, unable to wake up.
“She won’t wake up. She is not responding. She’s been throwing up,” the caller said.

A voice identified as a physician then took over the call, explaining the minor was conscious but suffering from alcohol poisoning. The doctor described checking the girl’s pulse and breathing and said the girl’s mother was present and had called 911.
Another caller, who was identified as a concerned parent, described the scene at the party:
“There is major, extensive, underage drinking. People were falling flat on their face. One of my son’s friends fell in the hot tub fully closed.”
The parent then went on to say the party was being supervised by only one adult while about “20 kids were present.”
“The mother is home, she is a practicing physician, so that kind of is more distressing as well,” the caller said.
The Winter Park Fire Department arrived to assist the 15-year-old who was found unconscious from alcohol consumption, according to police. She was taken to a hospital, an arrest affidavit states.
Body-camera video released Thursday showed Tran being taken into custody.
Tran was arrested to face charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, allowing an open house party with underage drinking, and selling or serving alcohol to those under 21.
News 6’s Mike Valente went to Dr. Tran’s house on Thursday in an attempt to get her perspective, but no one answered the door.
About an hour later, we observed a white vehicle pulling into Tran’s driveway. A woman got out of the vehicle and walked toward the door, where she grabbed the business card that Valente had left outside.
She got back into her vehicle and began to drive away. Valente tried to flag her down, but the woman kept driving.
Valente also called a medical practice where an employee who answered the phone confirmed that Dr. Tran was still practicing as an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) physician.
