Palm Bay school shelter-in-place triggered by teen in vampire costume; no threat found, police say

PALM BAY, Fla. – A Palm Bay school was put on a brief shelter-in-place on Tuesday after reports of a person at a nearby park dressed as a vampire, according to Palm Bay police.

Police said Pineapple Cove Classical Academy was put on the shelter-in-place after the report about the “vampire,” but it turned out to be a 16-year-old boy dressed in a costume.

According to officers, the order was “immediately lifted” when it was discovered the child was intellectually disabled.

Police said there was never any danger to the school.

No other information was released.
