Troopers said the Subaru was in front of the motorcycle, and the driver of the Harley Davidson began passing traffic and entered the southbound lane.

According to the report, the motorcycle was in a no-passing zone while the driver of the Subaru attempted to make a left turn onto Ashby Cove Lane.

As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the left side of the Subaru which caused the Harley Davidson to run off of the road, overturn and crash into a utility box.

Troopers said the motorcyclist, identified as a 58-year-old New Smyrna Beach man, was thrown from the bike during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Subaru was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
