ORLANDO, Fla. – Waymo is coming to the City Beautiful — and soon.
Waymo announced Tuesday its fully autonomous vehicles would launch in Orlando “over the coming weeks.” It already launched in Miami and plans to offer services in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.
“While going rider-only was once considered a technical feat, it’s become routine for Waymo. We’ve built a generalizable Driver, powered by Waymo’s demonstrably safe AI, and an operational playbook to reliably achieve this milestone, and our safety- and community-first approach, enables us to bring it to riders faster than ever,” a release reads.
We're thrilled that Waymo plans to bring its fully autonomous ride-hailing service to Orlando, and to the tens of millions of visitors our city welcomes each year. https://t.co/HhGBFkgdcW

Here’s how Waymo caters to new cities
According to Waymo, its “approach to every new city is consistent.”
Waymo identifies any “unique local characteristics” and as needed, refines the Waymo Driver’s AI to navigate.
Earlier this year, Waymo was spotted in the Orlando area gathering data to prepare for it coming to Orlando.
“The result is that all of our riders experience consistent, high-quality service with the highest safety standards. The data demonstrates the Waymo Driver is improving road safety in the cities we serve, including involvement in 11 times fewer serious injury collisions compared to human drivers,” the company said.
Waymo says it hasn’t just built the technology, but it “developed the definitive playbook” for autonomous fleets.
