Man arrested after shooting at another vehicle in Orlando road rage incident, police say

Shooting reported on SR-408

Mitchell Eugene Langford III, 24 (Orange County Corrections)

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 24-year-old man was arrested after firing a gun during a road rage confrontation on State Road 408 in Orlando on Sunday, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police said they spoke with the victim, who said he was driving a pink vehicle east on S.R. 408 near Semoran Boulevard and Lake Underhill Road when a gray van pulled alongside him. The driver of the van, later identified as Mitchell Eugene Langford III, accused the victim of cutting him off and throwing “a cup containing liquid” at his car before driving away.

The victim told police he then followed the van and threw a soda can back at it. He told officers that Langford then retrieved a black pistol and fired one round, striking a concrete barrier along S.R. 408.

Police said that both vehicles then exited S.R. 408 at West Michigan Street and stopped at a gas station, where officers later interviewed the parties involved.

According to the affidavit, two passengers in the van gave sworn statements confirming that Langford threw water at the victims and later fired a shot from the van. One passenger told officers she saw Langford place the firearm’s magazine into her purse after the incident.

According to the affidavit, Langford denied possessing a firearm and refused consent to search the vehicle. However, based on witness statements and the investigation, officers found probable cause to arrest Langford.

He faces charges of discharging a firearm in public and improper exhibition of a weapon.
