ORLANDO, Fla. – A house party in Orlando took a dark turn over the weekend after a shooting emerged, according to the police department.
In an arrest affidavit, police say they received a call about the shooting just before 5 a.m. on Sunday at a home along Wren Street.

Upon arrival, they found a victim — identified as Cristian Avila Carcamo — lying in the backyard with several gunshot wounds, and he was taken to the hospital as a trauma alert, police added.
Police also said they discovered that the shooter — later identified as Geraldo Diaz Guzman, 19 — had fled the scene in a white BMW before officers arrived.
Detectives said they interviewed the guests and residents at the party, though none seemed to know who was responsible for the shooting or why it had taken place.
Meanwhile, another person with a gunshot wound was reported as being dropped off at a hospital by a white BMW, investigators explained.
But after heading to the hospital, officers found the white BMW in the parking lot, which matched the description of the suspect vehicle, the affidavit shows.
As such, police spoke with the driver, who claimed he had driven his friend Guzman to the hospital but didn’t detail how he’d been shot, investigators said.
Around this time, another man — identified as Santiago Erazo-Zelaya — had tried to retrieve the BMW, but officers realized he had an outstanding federal warrant in an unrelated case, so he was taken into custody, detectives revealed.
Officers then spoke with Carcamo, who appeared to be in “significant pain,” and they learned that he’d been drinking in the backyard while hanging out with a few other people — including a man named “Michael” who had hospitalized him in a fight months prior, the affidavit says.
At some point during the party, Michael reportedly left the backyard while looking at Carcamo “with disdain,” police said, though he later returned with Guzman.
“Avila stated Michael walked behind the bar area to grab a beer, at which time the unknown male walked directly toward him, produced a firearm, and began shooting,” the affidavit reads. “Avil was unable to state the exact number of gunshots but felt multiple rounds strike him as he fell to the ground.”
But as Carcamo fell, he grabbed a gun from on top of a nearby refrigerator, and he used it to shoot back at Guzman, police said.
As a result of the investigation, Guzman now faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
