WINTER PARK, Fla. – Lake Howell High School in Seminole County was placed under a brief lockdown Wednesday morning following what officials later determined was a hoax threat.
Around 8:30 a.m., the school initiated a Code Red lockdown, which was later downgraded to a Code Yellow before being completely lifted, according to Seminole County Public Schools.
“The campus is secure, and no threat was found. This has been deemed as a hoax by law enforcement and regular school operations are resuming. Additional law enforcement and K9 officers will remain on campus per safety protocols.”

Parents reported delays in communication about the situation’s resolution.
One parent told News 6 they weren’t informed the threat was a hoax until approximately 30 minutes after the initial lockdown.
No word on what caused the hoax.
