Cape Canaveral man accused of using stolen checks from elderly victim

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A Cape Canaveral man accused of defrauding an elderly victim was arrested Wednesday after a monthlong investigation, according to the Cocoa Beach Police Department.

According to police, Staker wrote and cashed stolen checks over several months that resulted in over $33,000 in losses.

Staker faces 38 counts of uttering forged checks and one count of scheme to defraud. He is being held in the Brevard County jail on no bond.

An investigation is ongoing.
