ST. CLOUD, Fla. – Some residents in a downtown St. Cloud community say a major internet provider’s sales tactics are going too far, with repeated door-to-door visits that they describe as intrusive and harassing.
Homeowner Sylvia Jarzomkowske says sales representatives from Quantum Fiber have come to her door multiple times, urging her to switch to their service despite her repeated refusals.
“They are constantly knocking at my door wanting me to switch to them. And I told them no,” Jarzomkowske said.
She says the visits have continued “over and over, at all hours,” and she is not alone in her concerns. Dozens of people have posted on Facebook with similar complaints about frequent, unwanted visits from Quantum Fiber representatives.
Quantum Fiber is a new premium fiber-optic internet brand under Lumen Technologies, the same parent company that owns CenturyLink.
According to Jarzomkowske, the sales pitch is persistent and unrelenting.
“They’re telling me that, you know, we want to explain that the service we have is the best, speed is the best, blah blah blah, and I’m like no,” she said. When asked if she felt they were coming on too strong, she replied, “Not only strong but frequent. They cannot accept no answer. Its basically harassment is what it is. Harassment.”
In response to the complaints, Quantum Fiber provided a written statement to News 6:
“Quantum Fiber is expanding in Florida, and we’re excited to bring fast, reliable internet to more customers. As we launch in new neighborhoods, we use a range of outreach methods to let residents know service is now available, including direct outreach at times when residents are typically home. We have clear guidelines for when in-person outreach may occur, and we do not permit our teams to approach homes during certain hours. We’re reinforcing those guidelines with our staff and partners to ensure full compliance. We are committed to resolving this issue promptly, so residents are not disturbed outside approved times.”
