ORLANDO, Fla. – A man faces multiple charges after police said he stole thousands of dollars and merchandise from an Orlando store before attempting to evade capture on a rooftop.
Police arrested Tyrell Staffine following a pre-dawn burglary near North Westmoreland Drive and West Colonial Drive. Officers responded to the scene around 4 a.m. after surveillance cameras captured the suspect.
According to police, Staffine used a large bolt cutter to access the store’s register area, where he stole approximately $900 in coins and cigarettes valued at $2,000.
When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect climbed onto the roof of a nearby business in an attempt to escape. Police deployed a drone to track his movements as he tried to hide before eventually surrendering to authorities.
Staffine faces charges including burglary of an occupied structure and grand theft.
