VIDEO: Man arrested for armed robbery in Marion County days after being released from jail, deputies say

Dexter Rayonne Jackson, 38, faces multiple charges in incident

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested Saturday in Marion County after deputies say he robbed a Dollar General at gunpoint less than two weeks after being released from jail.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said they were called around 7:30 p.m. to the Dollar General at 15090 S. U.S. Highway 441 in Summerfield after employees reported that a man wearing a ski mask entered the store with a firearm, demanded money and threatened to shoot everyone inside if they did not comply. Staff handed over a bag of cash, and the suspect ran from the store, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to a news release, deputies later identified the suspect spotted a man matching the suspect’s description. After a brief chase, deputies apprehended the man –identified as 38-year-old Dexter Rayonne Jackson – in the 15100 block of SE 91st Court Road. He was still wearing the ski mask at the time of his arrest, and deputies found the stolen money and firearm nearby.

Jackson was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He faces charges of robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting without violence.

According to the sheriff’s office, Jackson has a lengthy criminal history. He was arrested in Palm Beach County in 2015 on charges including grand theft auto, false imprisonment and attempted robbery and was found guilty in 2017. He was released from prison on Nov. 12, 2025.

Deputies said Jackson was then arrested again on Dec. 20, 2025, on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, driving while license suspended or revoked and possession of a controlled substance. His bond on those charges was set at $15,500, which he posted before the Jan. 4 robbery.
