Community sets up memorial for Marion County mother and her 4 kids

MARION COUNTY, Fla. - On Thursday a small memorial was set up outside of the Summerfield home where Casei Jones, 32, and her four children lived. The makeshift memorial was organized by Katrina Sesler after authorities announced they located the bodies of the Marion County mother and her children in Georgia. She said the shocking twist in the investigation has left her heartbroken because her children were friends with Jones' children. Some friends said ahead of the family's disappearance they learned Jones Jr. may have been making trips to Georgia to see someone else. Jones Jr. is currently being held on a charge of second-degree murder in connection with his wife's death, but additional charges are pending.

No charges in child-neglect case

'The likelihood of conviction at jury trial is remote.' Prosecutors have announced that they will not file charges against a 23-year-old Summerfield man who had been accused of child neglect. The announcement was made during the man's arraignment hearing on Tuesday in front of Circuit Judge Anthony Tatti. In their notice to the court, prosecutors said that although there was probable cause to arrest Harley R. Steele, due to facts and circumstances of the case, "the likelihood of conviction at jury trial is remote." Steele was arrested on June 2 after law enforcement officials were told a 3-year-old boy watched by Steele was twice pulled from the swimming area at the Carney Island park by a bystander.
