BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested after a woman reported a sexual attack earlier this week, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release, deputies said that the incident happened on Monday when they received a call about a woman banging on a neighbor’s door, “begging for help.”
“The victim told deputies that while she was moving out of her residence, she had noticed a male lurking around the area for a few days,” the release reads. “That day, the male rushed her apartment, holding her at knife point, and forced himself on her sexually.”
Afterward, the perpetrator fled, taking the victim’s phone and car keys with him, deputies added.
However, the victim was able to provide a description of the man, and local surveillance video yielded images of the suspect, later identified as Kelvin Johnson, the release shows.
On Wednesday, the BCSO’s GAMEOVER Task Force was able to catch Johnson, and he was taken into custody, the sheriff’s office announced.

“There’s absolutely nothing anyone can say in this situation to make sense of why anyone would do something this evil and vile!” Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey said. “My heart breaks for this victim, and we will do everything we can to help her through this time while keeping her perpetrator locked up so he can never victimize anyone else!”
Johnson now faces charges of sexual battery, home invasion robbery, aggravated assault, and violation of probation.
