ORLANDO, Fla. – A man arrested Wednesday in Orlando is accused of trying to flee from the Florida Highway Patrol after an attempted traffic stop on State Road 408.

Khamari Green, 21, faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash causing property damage, driving while license suspended/revoked, reckless driving, and fleeing and/or eluding, FHP said in a statement to News 6.

A trooper was conducting traffic enforcement on westbound S.R. 408, west of State Road 426, when he saw a Mercedes-Benz traveling at a low rate of speed in S.R. 408’s inside westbound lane, the statement reads. The trooper tried to conduct a traffic stop on the Mercedes-Benz but began to pursue it after the driver first appeared to slow on the paved median, then sped up and re-entered the westbound lanes, FHP said.

That’s around when the Mercedes-Benz allegedly collided with a Ford pickup truck on the entrance ramp for eastbound Interstate 4 from westbound S.R. 408, according to the statement. After an unsuccessful PIT maneuver on the Mercedes-Benz, the trooper continued to pursue it on Princeton Street, east of Formosa Avenue, where the driver eventually tried to run on foot, the statement reads.

The driver, identified as Green, was found and arrested with help from Orlando police, FHP said. A passenger who was riding with Green was released from the scene after it was verified they had no wants or warrants, according to the statement.

News 6 has requested any dash-camera video that may have been recorded during the pursuit.
