ORLANDO, Fla. – The latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau has been released, revealing that nearly 900,000 people moved to the Sunshine State in 2024.
According to those estimates, 873,358 people moved to Florida during that year, with 514,673 people moving out. This means the state’s net population has jumped yet again, though by a slimmer margin than last year.
However, that figure falls far short of 2022, when well over 1 million people moved to the Sunshine State.
The majority of new residents domestically came from New York, with over 50,000 New Yorkers coming to the Sunshine State.

But the bulk of newcomers came from foreign countries — 288,048 people, to be exact.
However, it’s not clear what countries these international migrants stem from. The bureau doesn’t distinguish between legal status for foreign migrants, and Florida has historically been a notable destination for undocumented migration.
