ORLANDO, Fla. – A St. Petersburg woman is facing charges after Orlando police say she tried to steal her own car back from a towing company and ended up pepper-spraying an employee in the process.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, police arrived at TRL Towing on Ferguson Drive in reference to an in-progress stolen vehicle.
According to an arrest affidavit, Quabreshe Long, 29, entered the secured lot without permission, attempting to retrieve a Chevrolet Malibu she said was a rental vehicle towed earlier that day. When an employee tried to stop her, she pepper-sprayed him. Long was found inside the lot and taken into custody after refusing to comply with officers’ commands.
The employee told police Long drove the Malibu toward the gate, then used a tow truck to block her exit. She struck the gate multiple times with the vehicle and sprayed the employee in the face, the affidavit states.
Long told police she was trying to retrieve personal belongings and $49,000 in cash she claimed was inside the Malibu. Officers found oxycodone pills, a 9mm handgun, and the cash in her possession, the affidavit states.
Long was charged with burglary of a structure with battery, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during a felony, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and resisting an officer without violence. She was transported to the Orange County Jail without incident.
