ORLANDO, Fla. – Jason Revoldt will be sworn in as Orlando’s 22nd fire chief during a ceremony on Friday.
Revoldt enters the job with more than two decades of service, having had such roles as arson/bomb commander, deputy chief of the Life Safety Bureau, fire marshal and interim fire chief, according to the city.
He’ll also be the city’s first fire chief to also serve as a sworn law-enforcement officer, the city said in a news release.
“Following nearly 24 years of service, Chief Revoldt assumes command, continuing OFD’s proud legacy while leading the department into its next chapter of public service, emergency medical response, fire prevention and community safety,” the city said.

The release goes on to describe more of Revoldt’s accolades and talents, such as the Class IV Meritorious Award he received for saving a near-drowning victim, the numerous arson cases he solved with Nessie, his late K9 partner, his development of the Orlando Fire Department’s Youth Fire Setters Program, and his being a part of the Orlando Firefighters Pipes and Drums band
Revoldt is further credited for overseeing the construction of Fire Station 6, the development of temporary Fire Station 19, and the design of Fire Station 18 while deputy chief of the Life Safety Bureau, the city said.
He will be sworn in during a ceremony that begins at 10:30 a.m., joined by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, city commissioners, OFD leadership, firefighters, and community members, the release states.
