ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – After a lengthy car chase on New Year’s Day, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has released footage showing what exactly happened.
According to the OCSO, the incident kicked off after a deputy tried to pull over a Toyota Corolla that ran a red light near Silver Star Road and Hiawassee Drive.
However, the vehicle instead fled the area, sparking a chase where a helicopter tracked the Corolla to Powers Drive near Clarcona Ocoee Road.
“Multiple deputies who were receiving location information from the helicopter attempted to stop the car, but the driver continued to flee,” a release from the OCSO reads.
On January 1, 2026, an OCSO deputy attempted to stop a blue Toyota Corolla that ran a red light near Silver Star Road and Hiawassee Drive, but it fled the area.

Eventually, an aviation unit spotted the Corolla stopping at a home in the 4500 block of Westgrove Way, dropping off guns, and then continuing to flee the area, the release notes.
However, the car ultimately stopped in the 700 block of Errol Parkway, where seven people got out and ran, deputies explained.
Investigators announced they were able to catch and arrest Tyrone Henderson, 18, who now faces charges of fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer and possession of a weapon in the commission of a felony.
“The six other juveniles who were in the vehicle were detained and released,” the release concludes.
