“We’re auctioning all sorts of things that Orange County isn’t using anymore,” said Comptroller Phil Diamond, who started the semi-annual auction eight years ago. “We’ve got some great things here.”

The county periodically auctions off surplus property, which goes back into county coffers. During the last auction in August, the Orange County comptroller’s office raised over $943,000.

“That’s money the county can use for all sorts of things, whether it’s parks or public safety or roads,” Diamond said. “It’s a direct benefit to the taxpayers.”

This latest auction got underway on Wednesday and runs through next Wednesday, Feb. 4. You don’t have to be a county resident or even a Florida resident, but you do have to pick up the item at the warehouse.

Vehicles are not the only items up for sale. The county is also selling office supplies, yard and construction equipment, generators, soccer goal frames, exercise equipment, kitchen equipment and appliances, computers, and even fire hoses and ladders.
