ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Timber Creek High School in Orange County was selected to test two weapons detection systems as part of the district’s effort to maintain “safe and secure learning environments,” according to officials.

The district said the school would test new system Evolv eXpedite and OPENGATE, which the district had previously tested during a pilot program that ended in 2024.

District officials said this next phase would allow “the district to further evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of these technologies working together in a real-world campus setting.”

The district said Evolv eXpedite is a system similar to those used at large event venues in Central Florida. To learn more, click here.
