World War II veteran celebrates 101st birthday at Walt Disney World

BAY LAKE, Fla. – A World War II hero got to celebrate a milestone birthday in true Disney style.

Herb Maneloveg, 101, took part in a special flag retreat ceremony at Magic Kingdom.

He served as a private in the U.S. Army’s 106th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge. He was later wounded and awarded the Purple Heart.

His day included a trip down Main Street USA with family and front-row view of the Festival of Fantasy parade.

“It’s a wish that’s better than any wish I’ve ever had,” he said.
