Bomb threat forced closure of Cheney Highway in Titusville, police say

Scene has since been cleared

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Titusville police temporarily shut down a stretch of Cheney Highway on Wednesday while officers investigated a bomb threat, according to a news release.

Several nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution, and both eastbound and westbound lanes of Cheney Highway were closed during the investigation.

Police said around 5:50 p.m. that they are on scene near the 600 block of Cheney Highway, but posted on social media around 6:45 p.m. that the roadway is back open.

According to the release, the explosive ordnance detection K9 team responded and cleared the location of any threats related to explosive materials.

“Residents and businesses can resume normal activity,” police said in the update.

Titusville police said they continue to investigate the incident and are following up on leads.
