‘I-4 Eyesore’s’ long construction saga summarized in clue

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – It’s a constant source of meme-worthy fixtures among Floridians, and following Monday night’s episode of “Jeopardy!,” the infamous Majesty Building got a fresh wave of social media buzz after its mention on the quiz game show.

In the category “Starts & Ends With The Same Vowel,” the $800 clue reminded viewers nationwide of the towering Altamonte Springs landmark that has been stuck in construction limbo since 2001.

Answer: “Unfinished after 20 years, an office building in Seminole County, Florida, became known as the ‘I-4′ this unlovely sight."

Question: “What is eyesore?”

The contestant got the question right, went on to win the game, and advanced to the semifinals of the “Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament”.

Interest in tenants moving into the “I-4 eyesore” has been a rollercoaster of hope and silence.

Last summer, whispers of a potential tenant moving into the first floor sparked optimism, but as of January, News 6 reported that progress remains slow and quiet.

The building’s owner, “SuperChannel Orlando,” a religious TV station, continues to work on interior construction but has yet to announce a firm opening date.
