Major shipping plant in Central Florida to close, lay off over 200 workers

LAKELAND, Fla. – DHL Supply Chain revealed this week that it is planning to shut down its Lakeland plant later this year, according to documents obtained by News 6.

In a WARN Notice to state and local officials, the company said that the plant — located at 5360 Allen K Breed Hwy. — is expected to fully close by Dec. 31.

The document further states that the closure is set to be permanent.

According to the company, 203 workers in total are set to be affected, with the first separation coming on April 13.

“The site will close in phases from April through December 2026, affecting all employees,” the notice reads. “Most employees will be affected in April and again in June/July when the work volume is significantly reduced.”

These layoffs include 14 administrative positions, 23 leadership positions, and 166 laborer positions.

No additional information has been provided at this time, including the reasons behind the site closure.
