CLERMONT, Fla. – A “significant development” has popped up in a Central Florida cold case, according to the Clermont Police Department.

Clermont police announced that they will hold a joint news conference with the Ocoee Police Department on Friday to discuss the new revelations.

Police said the case has spanned decades, with the recent development involving the identification of remains belonging to a previously missing person.

“To avoid misinformation, the identity of the missing person will be officially announced during the press conference and out of respect for the family, we ask that you do not speculate prior to that time,” the release reads.

Friday’s news conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Clermont Police Department.
