ORLANDO, Fla. – A man arrested overnight Wednesday in Orlando is accused of stabbing someone else in the middle of a road, according to police.
Rodson Lubin, 21, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Lubin was arrested after officers responded to the intersection of E Colonial Drive and N Magnolia Avenue before 11 p.m. Wednesday, where witnesses and surveillance video reportedly indicate Lubin had chased the victim out of a nearby alley before shoving him to the ground in the middle of the roadway and stabbing him multiple times, police said.
Lubin told police that he owned a knife, which was recovered from the roadway, according to his arrest affidavit. He further claimed that the victim was following him and wouldn’t leave him alone, adding he “might have stabbed” the victim after they tripped and fell, the affidavit states.
At the hospital, the victim told police that he and Lubin were engaged in a verbal argument when Lubin produced a knife and the victim tried to leave. The victim accused Lubin of following him into the roadway, shoving him to the ground, and stabbing him as police also described.
“Witnesses stated that after stabbing (the victim), Lubin noticed their presence and retreated to the alleyway where I later located him with (the victim),” police said. “(...) Without the presence and intervention of witnesses, Lubin may have continued the attack, potentially resulting in further bodily harm or death.”
Lubin was booked early Thursday and is being held on no bond, records show.
