15-year-old accused of threatening to shoot up Volusia school

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 15-year-old boy was arrested Thursday after making threats to shoot up his high school, according to Volusia sheriff’s officials.

The sheriff’s office said it received a tip through Fortify FL about the threat against Atlantic High School.

Deputies arrested the boy, who now faces felony charges.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood is calling on parents to talk to their children about what they post on social media.

This arrest comes after News 6 has reported on multiple school threat incidents, including one in Seminole County that law enforcement said involved in a murder plot tied to an obsession with the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter.
