SANFORD, Fla. – Repairs to the decorative arches in downtown Sanford are on hold after crews discovered the replacement brick didn’t match the original material, which is no longer made.

According to a news release, the construction on the arches located at West 1st Street and French Avenue is now temporarily paused.

Officials said the contractor is now searching for a suitable alternative that closely resembles the structure’s appearance. While that happens, the site will be cleaned up, and the temporary traffic setup will be removed until work can resume.

Repairs will restart once the right materials are secured, according to the release.
