Florida lawmakers move closer to getting rid of yellow registration stickers on license plates

Move could save state $2.5 million per year

TALLAHASSEEFlorida lawmakers are moving closer to doing away with yellow registration stickers on license plates.

The Florida House State Affairs Committee approved a bill that would let vehicle registrations be recorded electronically, no sticker needed.

State tax collectors say going digital could save about $2.5 million a year.

State leaders who support the bill say it makes life easier for drivers.

Law enforcement can still verify registrations electronically using license plate scanners.

The bill now moves to the full House, while the Senate version has yet to be heard in committee.
