Man killed in Orlando’s Ivanhoe Village shooting after altercation; suspect arrested, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – An 33-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday after a dispute along North Orange Avenue, according to police.

Orlando police said they responded to the 1900 block of North Orange Avenue around 2:31 a.m. following reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as Julien Emmanuel Cruz, was taken to the hospital, where he later died, according to a news release.

Police said Cruz and the suspect – identified as 37-year-old Jean Gabriel Borja Gil De La Madr – were involved in a verbal and physical altercation on the sidewalk before the shooting. During the confrontation, Borja Gil De La Madr retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot Cruz.

According to the release, Borja Gil De La Madr then fled in his vehicle but police later located the vehicle in the 200 block of East New Hampshire Avenue.

Borja Gil De La Madr was arrested and faces charges of second‑degree murder with a firearm, Orlando police said.

According to the release, this is Orlando’s third homicide of 2026.

The investigation is ongoing.
