ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An 80-year-old man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of his 83-year-old wife Saturday afternoon in Orange County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies responded to the 8000 block of Romerly Court around 5:20 p.m. regarding a man-down call, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
According to the release, deputies then located a woman in her 80s who had been shot. She was pronounced deceased at the scene, the release states.
“All parties involved remained on scene,” deputies said.
The woman was later identified as 83-year-old Nancy Lee Simmons, whose husband, 80-year-old William Elwood Simmons, was since arrested via warrant to face a charge of first-degree murder, the sheriff’s office said Sunday.
He was being held on no bond at last check.
