‘Why did she get the children back?’ Mom accused of child neglect arrested again when toddler nearly drowns

Laura Forczyk faces new charges

PALM BAY, Fla. – A 1-year-old almost drowned, according to police, and now, for the second time in just the last few months, a mother is back in jail.

In September, police arrested Nathan and Laura Forczyk near the Bayside Lakes area of Palm Bay when detectives said six of their children were locked in bedrooms with no food or water.

After both parents got out on bond, Judge Michelle Naberhaus allowed the Forcyzks to see their kids again.

That’s how on Friday police said Laura Forczyk was home when their 1-year-old daughter nearly drowned in the swimming pool.

Her eyes were rolled back, and she had difficulty breathing, according to a new arrest report.

Monday, police told your Palm Bay Community Correspondent James Sparvero the toddler had been released from the hospital but didn’t specify to whom.

“Why did she get the children back, like, at all?” neighbor Veronica Desousa asked.

Laura Forczyk said she runs a space consulting company, and five years ago, she was interviewed here at News 6 about her ties to the local industry.

Her September case, along with her husband’s, are still open, and a trial date isn’t set.

Sparvero asked their neighbor what she fears could happen next to the children.

“Oh, my God, anything,” Desousa answered. “I mean, a baby almost died. What could be worse than that?”

Laura Forczyk’s bond from her arrest last year is now revoked, so this time, she’ll have to stay in jail.

Nathan Forczyk was home Monday, but he didn’t want to be interviewed by Sparvero.

James also reached DCF and asked: what is its plan to protect the children now, like where are they living, and with who, and will they stay with DCF now?
