DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A former Daytona Beach police officer who was arrested last month will remain in jail while awaiting trial on drug charges.
A hearing was scheduled for Amber Williamson, 40, on Tuesday, but her appearance was waived after a not guilty plea was entered, court records showed.
Williamson was first arrested on January 23 after authorities found “trafficking amounts of fentanyl” among other drugs and paraphernalia in the apartment she allegedly shared with Marcus Plowden.
According to a statement from Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, not only was Williamson released on recognizance the next day, but she went on to be arrested again the following Wednesday on drug warrants out of Port Orange.

The warrants concerned two more counts of trafficking in meth and an additional count of trafficking in fentanyl, the sheriff said, adding Williamson was being held on no bond this time.
Williamson later appeared in bond court, during which a judge found probable cause for her charges and appointed the Office of the Public Defender. The state filed a motion for pre-trial detention, and it was ordered that Williamson continue being held on no bond, as well as that she have no contact with Plowden.
A pre-trial hearing for Williamson has been scheduled for March 19.
