MELBOURNE, Fla. – The city of Melbourne has officially named Shane Leech as its new fire chief.
Leech takes the helm as his latest role in a 28-year career with the Melbourne Fire Department, having previously served as a battalion chief, division chief and deputy chief, as well as interim fire chief since former Fire Chief Chuck Bogle’s retirement in July 2025, the city said in a news release.
“It is both an honor and privilege to serve as Fire Chief for the City of Melbourne,” Leech said in a statement. “I am committed to working alongside the dedicated men and women of this department as we continue to deliver the highest level of fire and emergency services to our community.”
City Manager Jenni Lamb said Leech will be exceptional in the role.
“He has extensive knowledge of the City of Melbourne and how it operates plus he is deeply committed to the citizens of Melbourne,” Lamb said in a statement.
