Orlando firefighters reunite with ‘Miracle Matt’ 12 years after helping save his life

Matt Manzari injured in 2014 when he struck powerline while trimming trees

ORLANDO, Fla. – Members of the Orlando Fire Department reunited this week with a man they helped save nearly 12 years ago after a life‑threatening electrocution in the College Park neighborhood.

Matt Manzari was injured on June 25, 2014, when he struck a powerline while trimming trees for a neighborhood church. He suffered severe burns and extensive wounds but remained conscious as bystanders called 911.

Fire crews arrived within minutes and treated his injuries before rushing him to Orlando Health as a trauma alert.

Officials said their rapid response “undoubtedly” saved his life.

Because survival in cases like his is rare, Manzari later earned the nickname “Miracle Matt.” He has since become a motivational speaker, sharing his story nationwide.

The reunion offered firefighters long‑awaited closure from the call and gave Manzari the chance to thank the team that helped save his life.
