ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lake Mary woman was arrested over the weekend after her young daughter was left alone at a bar in Universal City Walk, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

In an arrest affidavit, deputies said they were called to the CW Shoreline Bar around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday after the 12-year-old was found by herself.

Deputies added that the girl was seen “visibly upset, crying, and sitting alone on a bar stool by the bar.”

She told deputies that her mother — identified as 33-year-old Amanda Thorpe — had taken her to the bar while already intoxicated, the affidavit shows.

“An unidentified patron of the bar stated something that upset Amanda. Amanda then stated that she wanted to go to the Red Coconut Club, to which [REDACTED] responded that she wanted to go back to the hotel room because she was tired,” the affidavit reads. “Amanda got livid with [REDACTED], displayed the middle finger, said, ‘(Expletive) you,’ and left the CW Shoreline Bar without [REDACTED].”

Afterward, deputies said they were later able to track Thorpe down to the Red Coconut Club, where she was spotted on the dance floor by herself with an alcoholic beverage in her hand.

According to investigators, Thorpe claimed she thought that the girl was with her the entire time. However, the affidavit says the mother appeared to be drunk.

“I noticed that Amanda had red, bloodshot eyes, uncontrollable swaying of the body, unbalance while walking, and the scent of fruity purities coming from her breath,” a deputy wrote.

As such, Thorpe was taken into custody and now faces a charge of child neglect.
