MASCOTTE, Fla. – A traffic stop in Mascotte went awry on Thursday afternoon after the driver fled into a lake, according to the city government.

In a release, city officials said that the incident happened around 2:17 p.m., when police pulled over a vehicle with four people inside.

But during the stop, the driver — identified as Dustin Levi Judy — fled from the vehicle and ran into a nearby lake, officials added. The other occupants of the vehicle were detained.

Afterward, law enforcement set up a perimeter and thoroughly searched the area, but Judy has not yet been located, the release states. He currently has a warrant out for his arrest.

“If he is seen, please contact 911 immediately,” the release reads. “At this time, we believe he has left the area, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.”
