VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Jacksonville man was arrested this week, well over a year after his 5-week-old daughter was killed, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, deputies said that the Daytona Beach girl — identified as Dahlia Siebenhaar — was taken to the hospital in December 2024, unresponsive with severe injuries.

However, she never regained consciousness and was ultimately taken off life support around 10 days later, deputies said.

“Medical and autopsy records showed Dahlia sustained extensive head trauma, broken ribs, bruising across her body, and retinal hemorrhages due to being shaken and held with extreme force,” the release reads. “Her death was later ruled a homicide.”

On Tuesday, 27-year-old Dajuan Patrick was taken into custody by Jacksonville deputies in relation to Siebenhaar’s death.

According to investigators, evidence uncovered in the case revealed that Patrick had shaken and spanked the 5-week-old, causing her fatal injuries.

“The arrest in this case won’t bring Dahlia back or give her the childhood she deserved, but today, we’re speaking up for her, because her life mattered,” Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

Now, Patrick faces a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child. He is held without bond in Jacksonville pending extradition to Volusia County, deputies added.
