Body camera video shows Florida man’s arrest in Daytona Beach airport runway case

Bryan Parker was arrested Wednesday

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – New video shows the moment Volusia County deputies reached a man accused of crashing his car through a fence at Daytona Beach International Airport and driving onto an active runway.

Investigators say 58-year-old Bryan Parker then attempted to board multiple aircraft before deputies took him into custody.

Air traffic control audio recordings captured the tense moments after the tower was forced to ground all flights and halt incoming landings.

“There’s an unauthorized vehicle on the airfield, and they’re trying to track him down,” a controller can be heard saying.

Deputy body camera footage showed the arrest, with investigators saying Parker was highly intoxicated at the time.

“So what’s the deal, man,” a deputy asked Parker.

“I don’t remember,” Parker replied.

Parker told deputies he had little recollection of how the afternoon unfolded.

“I went to an AA meeting and next thing I know I’m doing cocaine, drinking, and smoking pot,” Parker said.

Deputies say Parker drove his Mustang through a gate at Daytona Beach International Airport on Wednesday afternoon before steering onto an active runway, nearly striking a taxiing Embry-Riddle plane.

Investigators say he jumped out of the car and attempted to board the aircraft. When that failed, he lunged toward a second plane. A technician pulled him away, but Parker fled again before deputies finally caught up with him.

Body camera footage captured a disoriented Parker questioning deputies after his arrest.

“Parker: What the **** is my car doing over there?

Deputy: You put it over there, dude!

Parker: What gate did I go through?

Deputy: I don’t know.

Parker: I don’t ******* know either,” the exchange played out on camera.

Parker appeared before a Volusia County judge on Thursday for a first appearance. The judge denied bond. Parker is charged with five felonies, including aircraft piracy, DUI, and trespassing.

Court records show this was Parker’s third DUI incident in the last 10 years.
