MOUNT DORA, Fla – Lake County deputies and Mount Dora police officers responded about 8:48 a.m. on Saturday to a reported verbal dispute at a home in the 30000 block of Cheval Street in Mount Dora, authorities said.
Deputies said they learned a male resident shot a male subject who entered the residence through an unlocked sliding glass door.

Investigators said the man who was shot arrived at the home, knocked and banged on the front door and windows, then entered through the unlocked sliding glass door. Deputies said he then kicked in the resident’s bedroom door, and the resident shot him twice.
The resident was identified as the homeowner, according to deputies. The man who was shot was identified as the husband of the homeowner’s girlfriend, authorities said. Investigators also learned from the woman that she and the man who was shot are in the process of a divorce.
Deputies said the man was awake and breathing and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
No arrests have been made, and names will not be released because the investigation is active, deputies said. The investigation remains ongoing.
