SUMTER COUNTY. Fla. – A Sumter County deputy has been terminated and arrested after a hidden camera captured him stealing controlled substances from a community medication drop box, the sheriff’s office said
According to Sheriff Pat Breeden, an investigation began when a supervisor suspected that the drop box of unused medication was being tampered with.

That’s when the sheriff said an operation got underway, eventually catching Dennis L. Turner with a hidden camera.
Breeden said the camera caught Turner opening the box with a key he had through his assignment.
Turner faced a judge on Friday, receiving a $9,300 bond on eight counts.
Sheriff Breeden said Turner “tarnished the star I entrusted him to” and that he will “continue to demand the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability from the men and women of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.”
