MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The man accused of ambushing a Marion County deputy and then stabbing him multiple times is being held without bond, and now News 6 has learned this isn’t the first time he’s been violent with a member of law enforcement.
In his first court appearance on Friday morning, his criminal history was read aloud.
Resisting an officer with violence in 2015 and battery on a law enforcement officer in 2011 were just two charges he’s previously faced.
Medina-Marquez was notably in a wheelchair during his court hearing. When given the chance to speak, this is what he said:
“I don’t want to talk about it, I already I told you – I don’t want to talk about it, I already told you, I don’t want to talk about it I already told you."
Most recently, Medina-Marquez has been charged with attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.
On Wednesday morning, body camera footage captured the moment Medina-Marquez is accused of throwing a Marion County deputy to the ground, then stabbing him multiple times. The deputy survived, perhaps in credit to the bulletproof vest he was wearing at the time of the attack.
Medina-Marquez is expected back in court on June 16 at 9 a.m. for a felony arraignment.
