OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Wild hogs have been spotted tearing up grass and frightening pets in an Osceola County community, and residents say nearby construction is pushing the animals closer to their homes.

Neighbors at Del Webb Sunbridge, a 55-plus community off Narcoosee Road, have captured multiple videos and photos of the animals as sightings become increasingly common throughout the neighborhood.

One Del Webb Sunbridge resident, who spoke to News 6 anonymously about their concerns, believes construction is displacing the animals.

“I understand behind this pond is another road that’s going to be connecting to another phase,” they said.

Dug-up patches of dirt are scattered across the community, and residents say the hogs have even been spotted between homes.

“Well, you can imagine if nobody is aware that the hogs are here and their dog becomes aware, he might start barking, and the animals could come and get them,” the resident said.

News 6 reached out to the Del Webb Sunbridge general manager for comment. She said that only they are in communication with residents about the issue and had no further comment.

An email obtained by News 6 and sent to residents reads that the HOA is aware of the growing problem.

The email reads in part: “We have expanded the plan for additional fencing along more sections of the reserves and additional trapping and have presented to the board for direction on expenditures to implement.”

Still, some feel that is not enough to put residents at ease.

“We cannot wait until something happens and make choices about what to do,” one resident said. “We need to be proactive and make sure we can solve the issues.”

The resident News 6 spoke with said they are not looking for a fight with the HOA or builders, but they are calling for immediate action before the situation worsens.

“I just want to make sure that this doesn’t become a battle between the owners and the association and the builder and the person that represents us on the association board,” they said.
