Palm Bay Walmart evacuated due to bomb threat, police say

PALM BAY, Fla. – A bomb threat at a Palm Bay Walmart prompted a full evacuation and a large police response on Friday, police said.

The threat was reported at the Walmart on Malabar Road. Police confirmed the store has been evacuated and remains closed as officers secure the surrounding area.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad is also responding to assist in the investigation.

“Due to an active situation, there is a large police presence at Wal-Mart on Malabar Rd.,” Palm Bay Police said in a statement. “The store is currently closed, and we ask the community to remain clear of this area.”

Palm Bay Police said the area around the store is closed and residents should avoid the general vicinity while crews work to address the threat.

No additional details about the nature of the threat have been released at this time.
