MAITLAND, Fla. – A “giant, gag-inducing glob” was recently removed from a Maitland sewer pump, according to city officials.

In a release on Tuesday evening, officials said that a wastewater team was forced to pull out the mass of “slimy, sewage-soaked materials” in the Dommerich Hills neighborhood.

“The disgusting mess is the result of improperly flushed wipes, diapers, sanitary napkins and other personal products that jam up inside of essential machinery and often cost hefty, five-digit repairs and new parts,” the release reads. “Unfortunately, horrors like this are all too common. The City of Maitland cautions all utility customers to use toilets to flush only human waste and toilet paper.”

  • Tampons and tampon applicators
  • Sanitary napkins
  • Cotton balls and ear swabs
  • Condoms
  • Cleaning wipes of any kind
