ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police arrested a man accused of stabbing a rideshare driver on Monday morning, according to the police department.
In a release, police said they responded to the area of East Marks Street and Kenilworth Terrace after receiving reports about the stabbing.
“Officers learned that a suspect stabbed an (sic) rideshare driver who refused to provide a ride without a request through the rideshare app,” the release reads.
Afterward, the suspect — identified as Jovaughn Matthie, 42 — fled the scene but was found shortly thereafter at a nearby restaurant, where officers took him into custody, police explained.
Now, Matthie faces charges of resisting arrest without violence and attempted second-degree murder.
“To protect the integrity of the investigation and ensure the facts are thoroughly established, we are unable to provide additional information at this time,” the release continues.
