ORANGE CITY, Fla. – A Longwood man is facing attempted second-degree murder charges after he shot another man multiple times during a family-related dispute while his two young children were inside the vehicle with him, the Orange City Police Department said.
Officers responded at about 11:15 p.m. Friday to a report of a shooting at the Reserve at Orange City apartment complex.

According to a preliminary investigation, the victim, who police said was unarmed, became involved in a confrontation with the father of his girlfriend’s children. During the dispute, investigators said Malik Brown fired multiple rounds from inside his vehicle, hitting the victim several times. Brown’s two children were also inside the vehicle during the shooting.
Officers secured the scene, provided emergency medical aid to the victim and arrested the suspect without incident, according to police.
There are no outstanding suspects and no ongoing threat to the public.
The victim went to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, where he underwent surgery. He is listed in stable condition and recovering in the intensive care unit, according to police.
Brown, 27 of Longwood, is facing three charges that include attempted second-degree murder and child neglect.
The Orange City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to investigate the shooting.
